Once upon a time, since fairly near the beginning, there was a phpBB2 forum. There were a fair amount of posters and posts, on various subject, and even a nicely random forum game(known as the Enigma!). Then the comments system came, and many posters stopped coming; leaving the forum behind, with few new posts. In addition the forum lost its front page link, being moved to the Community page, and such it was that it became more obscure... Meh, you get the point... That's a little bit of its history. :) I'll admit to not being very active myself once it tapered down. Maybe it'll get a little renaissance now that there's a new one and it got mentioned in a newspost...

Hm, well, I definitely think that this forum looks nicer . We definitely need more people, though. Even though we didn't have many on the old forum, it was still more than this .

I'm back! Behold...
It's refreshing to see something else than yet another copy of phpBB, sure. Looks pretty darn good, this SMF business.

This is the first time I heard of a CtS forum! Same here. i'm a forumaholic (even going so far as to become moderator and then admin of the Inktank forum for Barry Smith), so i prefer forums to other mediums of communication! i would have been there if i'd known about the old forums.

I hadn't noticed the old forum, either. They sure hid it well. I hope they get some more people here soon; you'd think with all the Musers flooding the site they'd never have lack-of-traffic problems.

Well we get about 950 people a day on the site on days that the comic updates. The old forums haven't been available since uhm ... february I think ... There were barely any people who posted there tho, but then we only had about 450 regular readers back then.

Heh, I found the forums back when there was a direct link from the main page. It was the first forum I ever used. Glad I found it, though.
Anyway, Good to see it's even this active here. At the end, the old one's weren't this active.

Hmm, I wonder, when I enter an old thread with new posts since my last visit, how do I tell which replies are unread?
Other forums tend to have this nicely emphasised.

Really? I've never been to a forum where new replies in a thread were emphasized, or perhaps I just never noticed...

i just click the "Show new replies" or "show unread posts" links at the top of the forum. Failing that, if i'm visiting all the forums, i just click on the "new" link next to the threads with new messages and that takes me directly to the first unread.
